Today we have thought about 'Past and Present' by looking at a series of pictures of some familiar every day objects and vehicles. The game was to pair them with their equivalent from the past.
After pairing the cards we watched YouTube clips of a penny farthing race and talked about the impracticality and dangers of riding one. We also watched a clip on using a Box Brownie and one writing with ink and a quill. Two children (aged 47 months and 49 months) spontaneously recalled Samuel Pepys using one.
We regularly enjoy watching 'Magic Grandad' which is an educational series by the BBC to make learning history fun. As with all 'Planning in the Moment' I was able to support the teachable moment as we re-watched the 'Magic Grandad' episode on The Great Fire of London.
