Baking this week we have enjoyed making a carrot cake and a red velvet cake.

Every time the children cook they have an opportunity to discover new flavours and new foods from the different food groups. Cooking is a life skill and with it comes a love of food, with opportunities to develop healthy eating habits to last a life time.

Through cooking children learn about the need for hygiene and how to manage risk and transport and use kitchen resources safely. They develop social communication and turn taking, language and communication, physical development and maths.

Baking cakes we have learnt about temperatures, weights and measures; we have poured, stirred, and whisked.
