Qualifications

I hold an NVQ3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development and a Level 3 Award in 'Speech, Language and Communication for Children and Young People 0-25 years'.

​

I hold a current Paediatric first aid certificate, a Level 1 and Level 2 award in Food Safety and a Level 3 in Safeguarding Children.

​

I have completed the following  Open University courses: The Family at the centre of early learning (Level 1) and Understanding children: Babies being heard (Level 1).  I am currently working towards Understanding early years environments and children's spaces (Level 2) and Listening to young children: supporting transitions (Level 2).

​

In February 2020 I became involved in the 'Come Talk with Me' project and I am now a Communication Champion.  My role is to promote the development of good practice in speech, language and communication for all children by offering families support and signposting them to other areas of help such as the children's centre 'Come Talk with Me' speech and language groups.  Each week all families in my setting get a home learning card (supporting babies, toddlers and pre-school children) with fun activities to enjoy with their children at home.

I am very proud to have been on the steering group working alongside other early years professionals on a school readiness project called 'This is Me'.  The children continue to embrace their passports and the 7 'This is Me' tasks as they get ready to move onto school.

​

I am a self-reflective practitioner and I am always looking to improve my provision for the children. We enjoy fun activities based around the ‘Every Child a Talker’ and ‘I Can’ talk good practice guidelines; and are registered with campaigns such as Change4life and the pre-school educational programme Taste for Life. The children have fallen in love with the activities and they are requested alongside music, dance, cooking, painting and all the other firm favourites. I regularly attend Local Early Years Inclusion Meetings, TAPPS Meetings and the Ofsted Big Conversations.
