Continuing to think about 'People Who Help Us' and in particular doctors and nurses, we watched Maddie Moate visit a hospital. We saw her use a special light to see the blood vessels under her skin. We got to see how a blood pressure monitor works to check that blood is flowing freely around our bodies. We then saw Maddie visit the plaster room and how a cast is made when she had one put on her arm. We saw her use a special microscope camera to reveal how the fibreglass strands are woven together to make the cast strong.
After a table discussion about experiences of going into hospital and talking about Jack's operation, we made our own doctors kit using and extending vocabulary to describe the instruments being coloured in and glued on.
