The children love the marble tin as it offers so many opportunities for exploring colour, patterns, size, categorising and sorting as well as sensory stimulus.

Maths and physical development sat alongside each other as we talked about the size of the marbles and extended the language of size using tiny and huge as well as big and small.

Using tweezers the children showed great perseverance and in hand manipulation as they inserted the marbles into the top of the bubble gum dispensers.

I added the number stacking cups to the table and we practised using 1:1 correspondence to count the marbles.
