Dinosaur Rescue

Updated: Nov 10, 2018

This week everyone has had a chance to rescue the dinosaurs.

The children have developed gross and fine motor skills using pipettes, hammering, chisseling and dropping the ice.

They have looked at how water changes from a liquid, to a solid and back to a liquid again.

There has been great problem solving, as they experimented with different approaches from scratching at the ice, too using the pipettes laid out as an invitation to play; from going off to find hammers, too submerging the ice in water. There has also been some energetic smashing of the ice on the driveway as well as ice held in a tightly clutched fist to melt it.

All of this play has developed concepts of cause and effect; has allowed for observations and predictions and has enthralled everyone.
